Orchestrators are supply-side operators that provide compute execution in the Livepeer network. They process workloads and participate in protocol-level settlement and incentives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute transcoding and AI workloads
  • Maintain uptime and performance under variable demand
  • Redeem and account for payment flow outcomes
  • Attract and retain delegated stake through consistent operation

Economic Position

Orchestrators sit at the center of the network economy. They receive:
  • Usage-based fee outcomes from completed work
  • Protocol reward outcomes where applicable
  • Delegation backing that affects economic weight and network influence

Operational Priorities

  • Low-latency execution
  • High success rate and predictable behavior
  • Capacity planning across hardware and traffic volatility
  • Clear observability and incident response discipline

Relationship To Other Actors

  • Gateways route jobs to orchestrators
  • Delegators back orchestrators with stake
  • Applications depend on orchestrator quality through gateway-mediated routing
