If you’re a hobbyist, the best place to start is by contributing your GPU to an Orchestrator pool. If you’re a data center or want to have full control over your node, you can setup your own Orchestrator node.

Decision Tree

Join a GPU Pool vs. Run your own Orchestrator Add your GPU to a pool if:
  • You want easy, low-touch earnings (this is a hobby)
  • You don’t want to handle uptime, routing, monitoring, and upgrades
  • You don’t want to worry about staking, delegation or pricing configuration
  • You’re testing Livepeer for the first time
  • You don’t want to deal with staking LPT or worry about slashing
  • You have 1–5 GPUs
Run an orchestrator if:
  • You want full operational control of your GPU(s)
  • You want to build a business
  • You’re comfortable with ops, on-chain actions and staking (or willing to put in the time to learn)
  • You want maximum upside and you’re willing to stake LPT
  • You plan to aggregate many GPUs
  • You want full say on governance, pricing, and delegation
  • You have long-term plans
